Geely EX2 Buyers Guide: Comparing the Pro, Max and Ultra Trims

The EX2 was China’s most sold car in 2025, badged in China as the Xingyuan, it sold 450,000 cars with some months exceeding over 50,000 units. 

So, what makes it so popular? The EX2 is a super affordable electric hatchback that gives you comfort and tech for a fraction of the cost of some of its competitors. 

In this guide, I’ll break down the three trim levels Pro, Max and Ultra, to help you decide which version is right for you. 

You'll find a trim comparison table for a quick overview of what each model includes, followed by a deep dive into the details later in the guide.

Comparing the EX2 Trims

So what are they and what do they cost? 

• Pro - Entry-level spec - OTR price: £20,990
• Max - Mid-level spec - OTR price: £23,490
• Ultra - Top-spec - OTR - £25,490

All three come with an 8 year/125,00 mile manufacturer warranty.

One of the standout points for me was the colours the EX2 is offered in, it comes in 6 colours: 

• Pink
• Green
• Grey
• Beige
• Silver
• White

(In China they also launched it in Lilac, sad they didn’t bring that to the UK!)

The interior of the EX2 comes in grey as standard however you can opt for white in the Ultra trim for an additional cost. All three trims look the same on the inside with no real changes. 

Geely EX2 Pro

The reason the EX2 is so popular is because it’s heavily stacked as standard, you’re getting a lot of car for your money. The Pro comes as standard with:

• 35 kWh battery with DC fast charging at up to 60kW 
• Up to 156 mile range *(WLTP)
• Type 2 Mode 3 charging cable
• 4 Driving modes (Eco/Comfort/Sport/Snow)
• 16 inch alloys
• Synthetic leather interior
• Electric front seats (6-way adjustable)
• 14.6” infotainment system
• Reversing camera
• Rear parking sensors
• 70L frunk (front trunk) I managed to fit my backpack in there so it’s roomy
• Follow me home lighting 
• Voice control in cabin 
• Arm rest with two cup holders
• ISOFIX in the rear
• Adaptive cruise control
• Keyless entry and start
• Apple Carplay and Android Auto
• Front and back USB/c ports
• 4 speaker audio system
• Extensive safety features including Alcohol Lock Security Connection, Events Recording System, Emergency Call, Geely Traction Control System (G-TCS), Brake Assist System (BAS), Anti Rolling Program (ARP) among others. 

Geely EX2 Max

The Max trim is an upgrade to a larger battery, you get everything highlighted in the Pro, as well as a 47 kWh battery with DC fast charging at up to 80kW, you’ll get an additional 58 miles of range taking you to 214 miles. 

Geely EX2 Ultra

The Ultra trim keeps the 47kWh battery, but adds some additional comfort features such as:

• Heated seats
• Heated steering wheel
• Two-toned paint (black roof)
• 256-colour ambient lighting
• 360 degree camera with a transparent chassis 
• Upgrades to a 6 speaker audio system 
• Wireless phone charging 
• Powered boot
• Metal side skirts

Small But Mighty

One of the unique selling points of the EX2 is that it is surprisingly roomy. Not only do you get a 375 litre boot (I managed to fit 1 x large suitcase, 1 x medium suitcase and a backpack) you get a 70L front frunk, a glove box that pulls out just like a drawer and the rear seats are floating for more storage.

You get built-in 4G connectivity with a monthly data allowance included for two years with your EX2 that connects you to the app where you can: 

• Schedule charging
• Lock/unlock doors
• Open your boot (Ultra)
• Remote turn on your heated seats/steering wheel (Ultra)
• Remote turn on your heating/air con
• Find your car on a map
• Check whether your doors are locked/ open windows

Which Geely EX2 Is Best For You?

The EX2 is a fantastic little car even at the standard trim you get a lot for the money. Choosing which trim level is best for you depends on: 

• How far are you driving, do you need the larger battery?
• How important those additional comfort additions are and whether you want that black two-toned roof. 

The car itself is a joy to drive, I found it super comfortable, roomy and more exciting than some of the other newer hatchbacks I’ve test driven of a similar price range.
